The issue of disposal of non-food waste of animal origin was discussed at a working meeting organized by Land O’Lakes Venture37 project “Investing in Safe and Quality Livestock”.
The discussion was attended by Giorgi Khanishvili, First Deputy Minister of Environment and Agriculture, who stressed the importance of the issue and said that the introduction of new standards will help improve the food base of animals, as well as effectively manage non-food waste, reduce environmental impact and save the economy. .
The meeting, which was attended by representatives of the National Food Agency, Revenue Service and the private sector, discussed the requirements of the legislation adopted under the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement (DCFTA) with the EU and will enter into force in stages (Resolution of the Government of Georgia). On the approval of the technical regulation – “Non-food products of animal origin (including animal waste) and by-products not intended for human consumption, health and the rules of recognition of the business operator related to this activity”.
