“We are witnessing a very ambitious, very large-scale project of the future – this is” Ambassador Batumi Island “, which was supported by the government yesterday, and in practice, in the coming years we will witness new, large-scale development, which practically means building a new district in the Black Sea. On an artificial island, “said Natia Turnava, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, speaking at the presentation of the project in Batumi.
Natia Turnava congratulated the whole Adjara, its leadership and investor on the start of the project. As the Minister noted, this is a very interesting, large-scale, ambitious idea – to create a 90-hectare artificial island and peninsulas on the Black Sea coast, in Batumi, on which a new large district will be built in the future. According to the Minister, there will be about 500 hotel complexes, shopping malls, entertainment industry, many interesting facilities, which will attract many tourists to Batumi.
“This is a grand project, an investment of at least 100 million dollars – 300 million GEL, which will be implemented in stages, as well as the employment of 2,000 people, which is probably the most important for Batumi, because it is not only a new tourism development platform and wave, but also new jobs. “Thanks to this large-scale project,” said the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development.
At the same time, according to the Minister, this huge investment is also quite interesting from a technical point of view, it is quite a difficult project to implement and requires very detailed, scrupulous research, for which the investor takes full responsibility – the company will conduct all necessary research in the coming months. Attractiveness and feasibility.
“We want to stand by you in the implementation of this difficult project, we are confident that this will be another, very interesting initiative, which will make a great contribution to the development of the Georgian economy in the face of this global challenge. Although the pandemic has gone nowhere and is still going on, we managed to hold the summer tourist season, which is so important for Adjara, more or less successfully, we have already hosted more than a million tourists. We will do our best to make this development more stable, predictable and attractive in the future. Of course, we are sure that other similar ambitious projects will be implemented, including in Adjara, which is really the pearl of our tourism market, “- said Natia Turnava.
